Revesby Workers’ Little Athletics started as East Hills Little Athletics in 1980. Initially competition was held at Smith Park, East Hills and during the early to mid 80s there were about 100 athletes each season, but numbers picked up from around 1986, with just on 200 being registered by 1988/89.
East Hills Little Athletics voted at the beginning of the 1989 season to affiliate with Revesby Workers’ Club and so Revesby Workers’ Little Athletics Centre came into formal existence in October 1989, adopting the maroon and white colours of the Club. Competition moved to Armour Park, Revesby in the 1990s after much hard work by the committee. In the 2001/2001 season, the centre moved to its previous location and a much bigger ground at the University of Western Sydney after years of negotiation by committee members, fundraising and successfully applying for grants. This move came just in time for the big jump in registrations following the 2000 Olympics.
In more recent years, the centre has gone from strength to strength with increasing registartions, upgrading equipment and technology and developing a supportive culture with families.
We are a centre focused on family, fun and fitness and encourage all our athletes to do their best each and every week.
As our centre continues to develop, out grew our 2021/2022 location and after many years running Friday night competition at the University of Western Sydney grounds in Milperra, RWLAC made the move to our new facilities at Kelso North Sporting Grounds, Henry Lawson Drive, Panania for the 2022/2023 season.
We run our competition at the athletics field at Kelso North Sporting Grounds, Henry Lawson Drive, Panania on Friday evenings with commenting at 6:30pm and finishing anywhere between 7:30 and 9:00pm. Younger age groups finish earlier.
All parents assist in the running of Friday night events.
***Parents must stay to supervise their children at all times. No child can be left at the field without an identified parent or guardian. ***
